About The Firm:
David McDonnell's common-sense approach to practicing law has been attributed to his entrepreneurial mindset, his finance and business management education and a lifetime of interaction within the business and real estate community.

David has developed a unique reputation as a clear and concise communicator who approaches legal issues with an emphasis on common sense approaches and then provides guidance without the typical legal jargon or arcane terminology. In every matter, David strives to develop solutions that meet your   objectives while minimizing litigation costs and risks.

David's clients know that he approaches every challenge with passion, integrity, and a personal commitment to service and excellence.

He has a no-nonsense approach to helping his client but at all times maintains his sense of humor.  Opposing attorneys or litigants are not his enemies and he keeps in mind at all times that a good resolution of a bad situation requires the trust and input of those he deals with in the legal and business arena.

David has an extremely diverse legal background as a civil, business and real estate attorney.

In addition to his experience in all types of general commercial matters, corporate transactions and complex disputes, David served as President of the world-renown gourmet grocer, Farmers Market @Atrium Court in Newport Beach, California where he managed over 200 employees.

David is also uniquely qualified to advise individuals, businesses and real estate professionals having become a licensed Real Estate agent in 1976 and obtaining his Real Estate Broker’s license in 1980 which he continues to use today.  David is still active in structuring residential, commercial, land and business transactions.

David adds real world knowledge and experience to back up his advice to clients.  In 1985, 1986 and 1991, David was Chairman of the Orange County Bar Associations Real Estate Section where he brought  a passion for real estate to several hundred fellow attorneys and judges interested in the real estate profession.

David has also provided counsel and guidance to other attorneys.  He has appeared and qualified as and Expert Witness in several Southern California Courts in the area of legal malpractice and real estate disputes.  David has been retained by litigants both prior to and after the filing of a lawsuit.  He approaches each assignment with an open mind, but tells it like he sees it.  He will give his opinion of the facts and law and not just tell you what you want to hear.  This candor has been instrumental in winning case or saving litigants and their legal counsel thousands of dollars in not pursuing frivolous courses of action.
In 1980, the law bug caught David by surprise and he entered law school at night at Western State University of Law in Fullerton California where he was awarded three prestigious American Jurisprudence Awards and was a member of the coveted Law Review for the university.  While on Law Review, he received the Editor’s Award for most outstanding member.  Hard work and dedication to his studies and his future profession was rewarded by his fellow students and the facility of the school where he also was a teaching assistant.

David’s mindset as a strategic thinker and problem solver is proving to be a perfect fit in a world that has become more litigious than ever.  His legal career has encompassed a broad  spectrum, having been a Judge Pro Temp handling Traffic and Small Claims cases has provided him with a rare opportunity to see the law from the both sides of the bench.

In his career, he has crafted and participated in the resolution of numerous disputes. He has developed comprehensive dispute resolution tools, including pre-litigation case analysis and leverage evaluation programs.

Most lawsuits are settled prior to trial.  However, for many attorneys and litigants, attempts to settle cases does not occur until the parties are on the steps of the courthouse going to trial.

Having someone with David’s expertise and real world knowledge will reduce this stressful endeavor.
